Hi we're Mack and Hailey!
We both have just recently graduated from JU this spring and we are excited to take you along on our day in Henley on the Thames!
Today we had the opportunity to explore and have lunch at the Leander Boathouse, as well as rig our boats and practice for the first day on the course.
This morning we got ready and wore our Henley blazers for the first time out to breakfast at ‘Bistro at the Boathouse.’ It was super cute and we ended up sitting on the deck outside next to the river. After breakfast we walked over and met the team at the bridge to walk over to Leander's Boathouse together.
Seeing the Leander Boathouse was amazing! There are pictures of Leander Olympians and Henley champions everywhere, and right inside the lobby there is a whole wall with names of past champions. We explored and toured the boathouse then had a 3 course lunch on the second floor with a view of the course.
Soon after we headed back, changed, and walked to practice to rig our boats. The course was so cool to see for the first time. Practice lasted a while but it was very awesome to experience the course for the first time.
Post practice, we headed to the grocery store for snacks and then went to a local restaurant called Zizi's. We shared a margarita pizza and cheese bread then walked back home to head to bed.
Today was a great opportunity to see the history of rowing here! Henley on the Thames is a fairly small town but is awesome to explore. Looking forward to racing very soon!
