MEN'S ROWING ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF NINE NOVICE'S TO SQUAD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville men's rowing team has announced the addition of nine Novice's to join the team ahead of the 2023-24 season.


"I'm excited about this class of novice walk-ons," said head coach Preston Weinard. "Kudos to Coach Greg Diggins on executing a tough tryout, and kudos to the nine who were selected to join the squad. It feels like our team is back to that Big Team Energy that we had over the last few years! This group joins the already strong group of freshmen, and it shows a lot of promise for the team's growth over the next few years."


Callum Campbell-Sulter, Lorelai Corbett, Max Dajnowicz, Joshua Duce, Abigail Marks, Jackson Murphy, Stephen Njonjo, Tristen Pettengill and Margot Purcell all joined Jacksonville's prestigious men's rowing team. Four of the new members of the team are from the state of Florida, while four are from other states along the east coast. Additionally, seven athletes are freshmen, and two are sophomores.


Callum Campbell-Sulter is a freshman from Plymouth, Minnesota.


Lorelai Corbett is a freshman coxswain from Lido Beach, New York, and is the daughter of Michael and Bree Corbett.


Max Dajnowicz is a freshman Lititz, Pennsylvania, and is the son of Mark and Stephanie Dajnowicz.


Joshua Duce is a freshman from Jacksonville, Florida, and is the son of Steve and Danielle Duce.


Abigail Marks is a freshman coxswain from Clermont, Florida and is the daughter to John and Karen Marks.


Jackson Murphy is a freshman from Middleburg, Florida and is the son of Patrick and Becky Murphy.


Stephen Njonjo is a freshman from Alabaster, Alabama, and is the son of Rose Ngingi and Patrick Njonjo.


Tristen Pettengill is a freshman from Summerville, South Carolina and is the son of Rachel Clarkson.


Margot Purcell is a sophomore from Newberry, Florida, and is the daughter of Daniel and Dominic Parcell.


The Jacksonville men's rowing team wrapped up a historic finish to their 2023 season with a top 10 finish in the Varsity Four's at the IRA National Championships. The team looks to build off their momentum from a season ago. Both novices and freshmen will have the chance to debut for the Dolphins during the Jax Chase, an intersquad competition, slated for October 7th.
