JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville women's rowing team has announced the addition of 11 novices to join this year's freshman class.
"The 2023 Season was history making for our program," said Director of Rowing and women's head coach Mike Lane. "I could not be more excited about the future! This year we plan to continue to make history, with very exciting things to come!"
Our success starts with our novice program, who are the foundation of the program! We are welcoming 12 amazing Novices to our squad joining a very talented group of women! For a total of 23 in this freshman group including our recruits!
I need to give a huge shot out to Coach Alex Pulliam who leads our novice squad assisted by Coach Chloe O'Brien. Their enthusiasm working with this group is infectious and lays the foundation for our novice growth.
I am so impressed by this group! They are some of the most athletic novice women to come through our boathouse in a long time! I expect tremendous success from them."
Erika Baker, Vivianna Coppa, Emma Domingo, Lana Grelli, Emily Imes, Sydney Imes, Jaelyn Irvine, Josephine McKenna, Grace Noble, Lauren Rutzebeck and Kylie Whyte rounded out a freshman class of 23. Of the 11 novices, four are from the state of Florida, one being from Jacksonville, while the other seven came from across the US.
NOVICES
Erika Baker is a marine science major from Bloomington, Minnesota. She is the daughter of Scott and Rosie Pfarr-Baker and has one sibling.
Vivianna Coppa is a musical theatre major from Sarasota, Florida. She is the daughter of Adinah Torres and Stephen Coppa and has two siblings.
Emma Domingo is a nursing major from Jacksonville, Florida. She is the daughter of Clair and Danny Domingo and has two siblings.
Lana Grelli is a health sciences major from Mullica Hill, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Jacqueline and Marco Grelli and has two siblings.
Emily Imes is a business administration major from Bradenton, Florida. She has two siblings.
Sydney Imes is a business administration major from Bradenton, Florida. She has two siblings.
Jarelyn Irvine is a sports business major from Round Rock, Texas. She is the daughter of Carly Coaty and Terence Irvine, and Chris Coaty is her stepdad. She has two siblings.
Josephine McKenna is a marine science major from Toms River, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Nicole and David McKenna and has one sibling.
Grace Noble is a mechanical engineering/entrepreneurship and naval science major from Anchorage Alaska. She is the daughter of Kariane and Frank Noble and has one sibling.
Lauren Rutzebeck is a nursing major from Westminster, Maryland. She is the daughter of Sharon and Steven Rutzebeck and has two siblings.
Kylie Whyte is an aviation management and flight operations manager from Nazareth, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Susan and Bill Whyte and has one sibling.
The Jacksonville women's rowing program completed its best in school history a season ago, sweeping the MAAC Championships and beating a total of four boats at the NCAA Championships. The new freshmen will have a chance to debut as a member of the team at the First Coast Regatta on October 14th. To view the full roster, click here.
