The Jacksonville women's rowing team is set to race this weekend at the Sunshine State Regatta, in Sarasota, Florida.
Coach Mike Lane says, "The Sunshine State Regatta is always one of those special races circled on our calendar. We will see not only the three other D1 Florida schools we will also see fifteen other teams from around the country! This will be a great test for us on one of the best venues in the country. We have been driving hard, with clear eyes and full hearts and can't wait to but that to the test this weekend."
The Dolphins are due to race against schools such as Boston College, Miami, Michigan State, Iowa, Louisville, Kansas, Kansas State, West Virginia and plenty other big schools.
"The ultimate goal," mentioned Lane, "is to get a little bit faster each and every day, and the leadership within our program is outstanding and have no doubt that the Sunshine State will be an incredible learning opportunity."
Friday's day of racing starts with the Varsity B 4+ kicking things off at 3:30 pm, with a 2:45 pm launch time. From there, the Varsity A 4+ follows suit, with the 3rd Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+ and 1st Varsity 8+ wrapping things up. The final race of the afternoon is at 5:30 pm, with a launch time of 4:45 pm.
