Women's Rowing Readies to Defend Title at MAAC Championships

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The long anticipated 2024 MAAC Championship is upon us, and the JU Women's Rowing team prepares to showcase their skill and determination at such event.

"This time of year is like Christmas! The anticipation of waking up Sunday morning is like getting the chance to open the coolest present in the world! We just don't want a lump of coal." Said head coach Mike Lane, "Our women have worked tremendously hard this year. Our leadership is outstanding coupled with the D.R.I.V.E. they have shown."

The race will take place at the Cooper River Park in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The weather for Sunday is projected to be in the mid 70s with a partly cloudy sky.

At the championship last year in Saratoga Springs, New York, the Dolphins secured three grand final races to their second straight title in addition to winning their seventh MAAC Championship in program history.

Coach Mike Lane adds, "I know our seniors want nothing more than to end this year with a win, which they missed out on freshman year. That loss freshman year has fueled this class to tremendous success. Not only have we been successful on the water but have the highest ever team GPA as well have athletes involved in organizations across campus making both JU and Jacksonville a better place. No matter how Sunday turns out, I could not be more proud of these women. It has been a special year, and I look forward to that continuing as we prepare for Henley at the end of June!"
