The Jacksonville women's rowing team returns to the water with the first edition of the Head of the Arlington, a regatta hosted by Jacksonville University.
"Fired up to get out and test all of the hard work our athletes have put in this fall,' said head coach and director of rowing Mike Lane. "We have a great group of women and could not be prouder of them!"
The Dolphins are coming off the best season in program history. The team swept the MAAC Championships and beat more boats than any MAAC program had at the NCAA Championships. Now, they're looking to host the Head of the Arlington for the first time in school history.
Jacksonville will have six boats competing in the regatta. The 1v8 will kick things off at 11:30 in the morning, followed by the Novice 8+. Jacksonville then has three boats of Four racing to round out the first round of races.
Afternoon races see the top three and bottom threes of the fours and eights compete for overall placing at the Head of the Regatta. The women's top four in the eights will compete at 1:40 p.m. with the bottom three to follow. The Novice 8's then competes at 2 pm, with the women's varsity 4+ final race at 2:05 p.m.
